Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 13, 2026
GoToAppleMaps is run by Ruslan Dautov as a free, independent tool. This policy covers both the website at gotoapplemaps.com and the GoToAppleMaps browser extension.
Short version
- No accounts. No sign-up. No passwords stored anywhere.
- No tracking pixels, no advertising SDKs, no data sold to third parties.
- The extension does not transmit your browsing history. It only reads a page when you actively click Convert.
- Uploaded CSV/KML/KMZ/JSON files are deleted from our queue within 24 hours.
What the website collects
When you upload a file to convert, the file is stored temporarily in Cloudflare R2 so a background worker can process it and produce your Apple Maps Guide. The file, the generated Guide URL, and a short job record are deleted automatically within 24 hours.
We keep aggregate counters (total guides created, total places converted) that contain no identifying information.
Standard Cloudflare server logs (IP address, user agent, request path) are kept for up to 7 days for abuse prevention, then discarded.
What the extension collects
The GoToAppleMaps browser extension does not send any of your browsing data to our servers. When you click the Convert button on a Google Maps page, the extension reads only the place links and names visible on that page, packages them into a CSV, and opens gotoapplemaps.com in a new tab to run the conversion. The CSV travels to our servers only as part of that conversion request.
The extension stores, locally in your browser only, a list of the 20 most recent conversions so you can reopen them from the popup. This list never leaves your computer. You can clear it from the popup at any time.
Permissions the extension requests, and why
- activeTab — read the URL of the current tab when you click the extension button, so we know which Google Maps page to convert.
- storage — save your recent-conversion list locally in your browser.
- contextMenus — add the right-click "Convert to Apple Maps Guide" menu entry.
- scripting — inject the floating Convert button on Google Maps pages.
- host permissions for
google.com/maps,goo.gl,maps.app.goo.gl, andgotoapplemaps.com— to let the extension read place URLs on Google Maps and hand them off to our converter. No other sites are touched.
Third parties
To resolve Google Maps places into Apple Maps place IDs we call the Apple Maps Server API. Only the place name, and (where available) coordinates, are sent — never your IP address, account, or identifiers beyond the request itself.
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages and Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare acts as a processor under its standard terms.
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any advertising or retargeting networks.
Your rights
Because we do not collect identifying data, there is nothing personal to export or delete on request. If you believe a specific upload of yours still exists on our infrastructure and you want it purged early, email ruslan@dautovri.com with the timestamp and a description and we'll remove it.
Children
GoToAppleMaps is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
If the policy changes in a material way, the "Last updated" date above is bumped and the extension's Chrome Web Store listing is updated within 7 days. Historical versions are available in the site's GitHub repo.
